OUR MISSION
|
|
|
Access to safe water remains one of the biggest challenges facing
the global community. In 2002, the United Nation's conference
on sustainable development (in Johannesburg, South Africa) estimated
that more than 1.5 billion people lack safe drinking water and
2.5 billion lack access to adequate sanitation. Globally, the
UN conference estimates that $100 billion will be needed annually
to provide safe water and good sanitation.
Our mission is to ensure that rural communities of the world have access
to safe drinking water and good sanitation. Our action plan and
results include
- Control of water-borne diseases through low-cost water systems
- Provide a water system that is education oriented with a focus
on good sanitation
- Promotion of sustainability through active involvement of local
indigenes
- Maximization of social benefits through training
- Effective mobilization and use of resources through partnering
with local organizations and private sectors
